As far as we have seen today today, Saint Tropez waters were carrying a lot of good fortune for Massimiliano Mezzaroma: after winning last year's Farr40 European Championship with Nerone, a boat he is sharing with Antonio Sodo Migliori, the roman business man dominated the Farr40 European Circuit opening day.
Starting this year from Saint Maxim Bay, the unique one design boats projected by Bruce Farr had a lot of world wide known names from America's Cup. One of them being the famous Russell Coutts from New Zeeland, the master that Onorato Vincenzo took in to join the team on board of Mascalzone Latino.
We were also honored havingthe royal blood today, the Prince of Denmark Federick was steering  Nanoq (the class rules says the owner is the one steering his own boat). Showing up in "battlefield" by helicopter he took the last two races not being able to partecipate from the beginning (the others competitors took the decision talking over the morning briefing the situation)
With the day light air racing of 18C and with a breeze getting into 25-30 knots, the 11 teams in race did the first battle on Saint Tropez Bay waters.
This year, thanks to Light Bay Sailing Team (LBST) the solidarity is on board of Farr40. With the project "LBST for life" , Calvi sponsor announced a long waiting fundraising for the cistic fibrous, a serious genetic disease. The project anticipated by president Riccardo Chini will be introduced in the next few days and will be extended for the entire season.
Winning the first day of the circuit Mezzaroma dedicated the victory to his mother "As my mother tomorrow is having her birthday and I cannot join her, I think the best present is dedicating to her the victory of today "
In second place after the first day is Marco Rodolfi's boat, TWT, tactician Tiziano Nava, followed by Joe Fly of Giovanni Maspero, tactician Gabriele Benussi. Mascalzone Latino, tactician Russell Coutts finished the fourth this first day.
The new entries are two : La Marachella finishing the fifth and Enfant Terribile of Gianluigi Serena, a well known tactician Paolo Cian. The first series of races are in course, Saturday 1st of April and is going to end on Sunday, 2nd of April. The next series of Farr 40 European Circuit is The Rolex Capri Sailing Week organized by the Yacht Club Capri in conjunction with the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda, 28-30 April.
