Capri, Italy – The Farr40 European Circuit is coming to Italy. The event starts tomorrow Friday 28 and runs through Monday May 1. There are 9 races scheduled for the Farr 40 and we are expecting plenty of action, the first race is scheduled at noon. The Rolex Capri Sailing Week is organized by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda in association with the Yacht Club Capri and besides the Farr 40 there are three other classes in race: Mini Max, Comet and the Swan 45 – where Leonardo Ferragamo will participate with Cuordileone with Paul Cayard on the tactician's role. The team on Mascalzone Latino of Vincenzo Onorato remains the same like on St Tropez with Russell Coutts calling the tactics and Adrian Stead at the mainsail. Onorato is playing home since he is a native born of the place and he is still considered a favourite of the class. Mark Reynolds – the winner of three gold medals and two world championships is also present. Nerone of Massimo Mezzaroma and Antonio Sodo Migliori is having a change in plan. For this second series the boat has been chartered by the twins Stefano and Massimo Leoporati. After winning the Italian Championship with Mumm30 the the Leoporati Brothers are debuting into Farr40 and for sure this is a boat to watch closely. There are also two new entries the German boat Struntje Light of Wolfgang Schaefer, tactician Morten Hendriksen and the Greek boat Atalanti XI of George Andreadis - with Sofia Bekatorou calling the tactics - 2004 and 2002 ISAF Rolex World Sailor of the Year and gold medalist in the 470 class at the 2004 Athens Olympic Games Cannonball – Madina of Dario Ferrari will be also on the start line with a change. Tony Ray-a veteran of the America’s Cup (Auckland 2000)- the tactician on the famous Young America, a boat designed by Bruce Farr - is taking the place of Eddie Owen, St Tropez tactician on the boat. Carlo Alberini, the new president of the class will be the helmsman of Calvi and the team onboard Enfant Terrible of Gianluigi Serena remains the same with the veteran Paolo Cian calling the tactics. The Crown Prince Frederik of Denmark will participate with Nanoq with Anders Myralf on the tactician’s role. The Rolex Capri Sailing Week is becoming a prominent event in the European Circuit bringing in scene notable sailors all over the world. The third series of the European Circuit will be host by Porto Cervo 1-3 June followed by Sardinia Rolex Cup.
