31st of May 2006 Farr40 European Circuit: The thrid series starts with Mascalzone Latino on top of the leaderboard English VersionItalian Version

Porto Cervo, Sardinia will host the event

The third series of Farr40 European Championship 2006  will be sailed on the waters of Porto Cervo, Sardinia over three days 1st - 3rd June. Hosted by the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda the event will be sailed on some of the most testing waters in the world, where the twelve teams in race can expect both light and strong winds.
The day before any regatta  sees crews making last minute adjustments and short sorties out to the race course area to practice those important manoeuvres. Measuring in sails and weighing in to assure compliance of the class' strict all up crew weight of 760kg, has also occupied most crews today.
After taking a second to Saint Tropez and a first to Capri Vincenzo Onorato's Mascalzone Latino is going to compete without Russell Coutts instead  he is having the America's Cup tactician  Andrian Stead calling the tactics. Just right behind Mascalzone Latino the taugh competition is coming closely: Marco Rodolfi's TWT, Govanni Maspero's Joe Fly, and for this third series Massimo Mezzaroma and Sodo Migliori - Saint Tropez's winner and fouth in overall - are going to be back onboard  Nerone. Carlo Alberini of Calvi is having a double role this year - skipper and the president of the class.
Joining the fleet for the first time this season - a Miami Key West participant - Fiamma skipped by Alessandro Barnaba with America's Cup tactician Tommaso Chieffi - will compete against his colleague Paolo Cian - the tactician aboard Enfant Terrible.
The competition can get intense and a bit hairy in the professionally-crewed Farr40 and the show is expecting to provide plenty of action with no more than 9 windward - leeward races in schedule for the next three days with the first race  ready to start tomorrow at noon.
Porto Cervo will host also the next two events on schedule, Sardina Rolex Cup 5 - 11 June and Audi Invitatonal - Extra Circuit 13 - 16 June.
