May 12, 2006 Farr 40 European Championshio Mahòn, Spain: Final act English VersionItalian Version

Last series of the circuit in roll from Thursday to Sunday in the Balearic Isle of Mahòn; Alinghi is part of the fleet

Farr 40 European Championship decisive series is starting today. The event runs from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16 July in the beautiful Balearic Island of Menorca.
Nerone of Massimo Mezzaroma and Antonio Sodo Migliori is the winner of 2005 edition, held last year in Saint Tropez, France.
Racing at the Europeans is always over the same course configuration, short windward/leeward courses, with races normally running a little over an hour. Up to three races are sailed a day  in the Mediterranean waters outside the port of Mahòn.
As last year's winner (Nerone) being absent he is not going to be able to defend the title therefore one of the nine teams in race on this last series will be the future holder of the title. Besides  the familiar names we are accustomed seeing on 2006 circuit in the last three series, on this  fifth edition of Farr40 European Circuit Alinghi is joining the fleet. Bertarelli's boat with Brad Butterworth calling the tactics is fighting against Mascalzone Latino  the boat of the season so far with Andrian Stead calling the tactics, substituting Russell Coutts.
In the provisional overall after the three series held in Saint Tropez, Capri and Porto Cervo, Masclazone Latino is first on the leaderboard followed by TWT, Nerone and Joe Fly, the last two being absent. A close fight providing plenty of action is expected ,  taking into consideration that Mascalzone Latino dominated the first three series by winning seven of a total of twenty-one  races.
Fiamma of Alessandro Barnaba is present with Tomasso Chieffi calling the tactics, who is fighting against Paolo Cian the tactician onboard Enfant Terrible, both of them part of Shosholoza, the boat participating in the final acts of America's Cup.
Calvi of Carlo Alberini this season president of the class (will be substituted by Wolfgang Schaefer) who is  is presenting for the first time in Spain the project Lightbay Sails for Life,  a long waiting fundraising for the cistic fibrosis, a serious genetic disease.
Last Farr40 event in schedule for 2006 season will be the long waiting  Farr 40 World Championship in Newport from 1 to 9 September.
