July 14, 2006 Farr40 European Championship, Mahòn Alinghi is leading the fleet after six races English VersionItalian Version

Cannonball Madina is taking race six

Alinghi is taking the lead of the nine Farr40's. After six regattas disputed until now of the Farr40 European Championship just outside the port of Mahon, Spain, Bertarelli's team  is shutting up the rankings. TWT of Marco Rodolfi is just one  point before him whilst Onorato's Mascalzone Latino is to come third in the provisional overall with 19 points
Alinghi demonstrates once again  that the key of winning  a Farr40 competition  is a matter of consistent results  not necessarily having to win every race. The high level of the fleet confirmed the expectations proving how highly competitive one design class has become.
Just five points separates Mascalzone Latino steered by Vincenzo Onorato with  the English Adrian Stead calling the tactics, of Alinghi the two favourites on paper, both of them  are feeling probably the spirit of America's Cup.
Doing quite well is the newcomer to Farr40 racing , Enfant Terrible  of Gianluigi Serena with the America's Cup sailor Paolo Cian in the tactician's role, forth to come in the overall with 22 points just three points behind Masclazone Latino.
A spectacular day with plenty of choices to be made. Today's three winners TWT who's confirming the perfect shape the team is in; Enfant Terrible and Cannonball Madina  of Dario Ferrari.
Not so fortunate was the Farr40 European Class President Carlo Alberini with Calvi, placing himself on the eight position in the provisional overall. Important mentioning  the new project he is part of,  Lightbay Sails for Life, a long waiting fundraising for the cistic fibrosis, a serious genetic disease.
Racing resumes tomorrow  Saturday 15th July  the third day of the Farr40 European Championship . The weather conditions should be similar to today's, with a moderate north-easterly  breeze
