July 15, 2006 Farr40 European Championship, Mahòn: Mascalzone's first victory in Menorca English VersionItalian Version

Mascalzone latino is winning Race 9, eight points ahead Alinghi

Vincenzo Onorato's bota dominated  the ninth race scoring his first victory on this fifth edition of Frr40 European Championship held  for the first time in the Balearic Island of Menorca, Mahòn., thanks to his consistency, fourth second places until now. Alinghi is moving two points behind, getting down to third place in the overall, while TWT remained on top of this leaderboard at this high level, maintaining its second on the overall.
The three races in scheduled for today saw three different winners. The first race was won by Fiamma of Alessandro Barnaba having Tommaso Chiffi calling the tactics for him but the  following races  saw them scoring a fourth  and seventh, placing herself on the fifth position in the overall.
The second race saw the relative newcomer into championship level Farr40 racing   Enfant Terrible taking the winner's gus with Paolo Cian on the tactician's role. With two wins, one on the opening day and one today, one third and two solid fifths Gianluigi Serena's boat secured a nice fourth position in the overall.
Alinghi of Ernesto Bertarelli  was not so fortunate today, best result was a third in the last race getting down to third in the overall.
Tomorrow, Sunday July 16, the last day of races and the decisive one for the nine Farr40's on the Rolex Farr40 European Championship. Two more races in schedule, The weather conditions should be similar to today's, with a moderate north - north-easterly  thermal breeze.
